Youth Ministry can be a funny thing.
I have only been doing this for about 10 months and it has already had it's fair share of ups and downs.
I have had some great opportunities to council with students who are struggling with real problems in their life. Problems that I never had to deal with and never even thought of while I was in High School.
Almost everyone of my students comes from some sort of broken home. They deal with fighting parents and going from one house to another depending on what week it is.
I realize how lucky I am to come from a home where my parents love each other and both loved God.
I have found though that the greatest thing I have done for ministry is picking students up, and dropping them off at their homes. That has become the best way to build relationships with them. It is true that relationships will teach so much more than lectures. That is discouraging when I think about how much time and effort I put into lessons. Trying to make them exciting and practical. But as my relationship grows I quickly realize that this is when they are willing to let me into their lives and allow me the influence them with the things of God.
Kind of a ramble for my first post. Just the thoughts of my own little corner of Utah.

Hey buddy! I hope things are going well for ya up in Utah!
Well as I have to be honest I havent done the work myself but the work someone else did and I followed up on it has really changed my mind. If you look at Matt. Jesus says the only reason for divorce is adultry which I would have to agree with however, if you look at the Greek in that verse you will see that the KJV uses two terms divorce and put her away. This terms are different with different meanings. The part that everyone gets hung up on is that when a person gets a divorve and then remarries they are committing divorce. Now if you look the references with "putting away" and divorce, you will find Deut. passages and then there is a interesting passage that says that God divorced Israel which is very interesting to anyone who says that God hates divorce. Anyway, my stance is that if a man gets divorced beause of martial unfaithfulness has done the thigns that Moses had said i.e. Bill of divorcement and putting her away he can get remarried without commiting adultry. Look at 1 Cor. 7 and look at the KJV... With the understanding of what Moses put into place and then with the proper translation of Matt. and 1 Cor. 7 I have to conclude that remarriage isnt a sin. This also has implication towards a Pastor who has an unfaithful Pastor.
Anyway... that was the short version but if you would like more reference I can give you a few more, this is just what I could think of off the top of my head.
